A Student Wellbeing Presentation

HurdlingHardship

The Talk

Not a motivational speech.
A real one.

Hurdling Hardship takes students through three genuine setbacks — told honestly, without the polish. Each hurdle built a tool. Students leave with a framework for navigating adversity that doesn't require going through what Harry did to understand it.

About Harry

The story behind the talk

Harry Henbest is an Aerospace Engineer at Boeing Defence Australia and resilience speaker. The hardships in this talk happened — the tools he developed from them are the entire point.

Teachers kept saying the same thing: students need to hear this. Not from a worksheet. From someone who was sitting in their seat not that long ago.

"

It's not about how hard you can hit. It's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward.

Rocky Balboa

Backed by Research

The tools are real. The science backs them.

This isn't just lived experience — it's grounded in compelling research on resilience, grit and human performance.

#1

Grit and persistence predicted success more accurately than IQ — across Ivy League students, West Point cadets and national competitors.
